Located half way up Mt. Pleasant, the largest mountain on the island, The Garden
House affords a panoramic view of Admiralty Bay and the surrounding hills. It
was constructed of field stone and green heart timber, an extremely hard wood
imported from Central America. The house is set on over an acre and is very
private. On one side are terraced gardens. On the other are more gardens and a
small swimming pool. An “Observation Deck” is found over the pool, with dramatic
views of the Bay on the front side and of the compelling woods on the
rear.
The house itself is very spacious, having an expansive double height living room and dining area on the ground floor and up a few steps the large, fully equiped kitchen. Up one full level is the ample study and a small bedroom. On the highest level, off a large gallerry, are two good sized bedrooms. You will also find the bathroom and laundry here. The house is very bright and breezes flow in from every side.
It is furnished with locally handmade tables and chairs and some modern Italian pieces.
It is a ten or fifteen minute walk to the harbor and its surrounding restaurants, bars, shops and scuba diving facilities. One can easily rent a car or, as I do, have a taxi at your service at all times.
